Audit Upload
Audit Upload: check every file made it into your room
Point Audit Upload at the folder you uploaded from, and it tells you, file by file, what made it into the room: matched, missing, a different size, blocked by the virus scan, or in the room but not in your folder. Your browser compares file names and sizes, so the check uploads nothing and no file content leaves your computer. Add anything missing in one step, then issue a reconciliation certificate: what the room held at that moment, counted by ShareAndGo, alongside what you declared about your folder. Every check is recorded in the room's audit log. Included on every plan.
What each result means
Matched. The file is in the room, in the same folder, at the same size.
Missing. The file is in your folder but not in the room. Choose Add to upload just the missing files.
Size differs. A file with the same name arrived, but its size is different, so it may be another version. Open it and check which one you want.
Blocked. The file reached the room but the virus scan rejected it, so nobody can open it there.
In the room, not in your folder. The room holds a file your folder doesn't, for example one someone else added. Nothing is wrong; it is listed so the picture is complete.
A file that has only just arrived can show as Still scanning for a minute or two while the virus scan runs. That is not a problem. Run the check again shortly.
What the certificate shows
The reconciliation certificate has two parts, kept apart on purpose:
- Verified by the system. Counted from the room at the moment the certificate is issued: documents held, total size, folders, files that passed the virus scan, entries in the room's audit log, and a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the room's file list: every file's folder, name and size.
- Declared by you. The folder you compared and what the check found. ShareAndGo can't see your folder, so this part is your statement and is labelled as yours.
You can include the full file list, print it or save it as a PDF. Anyone who can run Audit Upload in the room can issue a new certificate later and compare the fingerprint: if it still matches, no file has been added, removed, renamed, moved or resized since. The fingerprint covers the file list, not what is inside each file.
Questions
Does it upload my files?
No. Your browser reads the names and sizes of the files in your folder and compares them with the room. No file content leaves your computer. Files are uploaded only if you choose Add, and then only the missing ones.
What counts as a match?
A file with the same name in the same folder of the room, at the same size. Capital letters in names don't matter, and if you uploaded the contents of a folder rather than the folder itself, the check lines the two up and tells you how it did.
What if a file was blocked by the virus scan?
It stays blocked, and nobody can open it in the room. Check the file on your computer, then upload a clean copy.
Who can run it?
Room owners, admins and editors. People who can only view the room don't see it.
Is it on my plan?
Yes. Audit Upload is included on every plan.
